Hello Edhat Team and Readers:
Recently, an out of town visitor asked who are celebrities with a home in the Santa Barbara area. I knew only a few. Ed hat readers help me compile a list of of celebs for the next time I need an answer to this question.
By the way, the visitor was from San Francisco, not L.A.

One of the things that makes SB great is the relative anonymity celebs retain. I'd be against compiling such a list. Let them have their privacy.

Steve Martin, John Cleese, Cat Cora, Oprah, Drew barrymore, Rob Lowe, Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas, Carol Burnett, Al Gore, Ty Warner, Dennis Miller (might be up for sale), Maria Shriver, Arnold Schwartzenegger, are the ones I know ...and think still have property here.

Even though I'd like to show-off the who's who that I know live here, or own a property here, I would have to agree with 262p. We don't know the OP, or the intentions of the OP (original poster), so I would encourage everyone to keep silent. BTW - Dennis Miller has more than one house.

Remember that these people chose to be celebrities - so they get what comes with that choice - fabulous wealth and people who are interested in their lives.

Funny that a Who's Who means celebrities to the OP. If I was going to compile a Who's Who in SB, it would people who were community leaders and activists. Like Rob E. says, Roger and Edhat, for starters!

Listening to the (a) scanner all day is no way equivalent to being a community activist/leader.

originally the property was Brad & Jennifer's. Hope the split up did not allow Angelina's name to go on the deed.

What about the people that contribute to making Santa Barbara a great community such as Barbara Tellefson, founder of Unity Shoppe and Tom Tighe, President of Direct Relief International just to name a couple. Or those who left a legacy to Santa Barbara such as Pearl Chase. And I agree Edhat and Roger!

Yeah, I second the vote for Barbara Tellefson, she is amazing! And Kenny Loggins too :) I don't know what Oprah had done to help our community, have yet to hear about her creating any type of program for OUR disadvantaged youth...

I agree with 262P. Encourage the celebs to move back to LA, cancel the film festival and the cruise ships and let's revert to the sleepy little town (for the locals) that I knew and loved.

Isn't there some special place, some all-encompassing (of all religions) purgatory, reserved for name-droppers? It is so much more fun to come face-to-face with any celeb and pretend you don't know who he/she is. Must we out the location of every famous personality to outsiders? Leave these "stars" alone, I say. Just because they entertain us up on the big screen, doesn't make it all right to torment them. It must be hell, all the "little people" nipping at one's heels. Give them their space.

What's wrong with dropping their names? It is all part of the SB culture... catering to them and to tourists is what our city is about and what has ruined anything "community" about Santa Barbara! Fact is that we have a great deal of celebs that own homes here and yet we don't hear about how they are doing things to help out our "little town". Why not? It's sad! I remember being a kid and seeing Jonathan Winters downtown and we always left him alone even though we were HUGE fans of Mork & Mindy so we were excited. Where is the respect for our city? Why don't these "stars" help it shine again? Who cares about the Film Festival? I would rather feel safe walking down the street after dark.

I don't consider myself a Community leader or a celebrity. I do consider myself a bit of an activist because I put my opinion out there and it's usually not a opinion other people agree with. When one does that they put themselves on the line for intimadation and threats. I actualy don't consider some of our community leaders, leaders because some of them are corrupt and in it for themselves. I do alittle more than sit on my ash and listen to the scanner@434 but I don't advertise. I think the real celebritys should be left alone..I'm not talking about city leaders either...Thank You guys though very nice.

S'Aunite Barbara can't believe the lack of depth. Y'all deserve each other and all the hoolywood crap you are so interested in. Ever heard of the Nobel prize? Not a film industry award. How bout LEDs. Direct Relief ring a bell? The lucky jeans guy with all the restaurants, maybe that's more you speed.
