Sunday Afternoon Traffic Jam

Sunday around 2 pm traffic near and on Hwy 154 down here in SB near State street, traffic was slow, backed up and a mess.
Looking thru bushes as we drove nearby, we saw a CHP with lights flashing and took at alternate car route to get to our destination.
Does anyone know what happened? We assumed a wreck probably due to higher traffic due to the Gaviota closure, folks taking 154 as the alt route.

I took 154 from State to Cathedral Oaks at around 2:30 pm and saw that traffic jam. I just attributed it to overflow from the Gaviota work and drivers wanting to avoid that area. I guess I was wrong.

There was a high-speed chase southbound (east) on State Street Saturday afternoon around 3:00 pm, with CHP in pursuit of what looked to be a silver Honda sedan. They passed La Cumbre then turned west onto Hope. Does anyone know what happened?

I'm curious, too. 3 fire trucks, a cop car, and an ambulance came down Calle Real w/sirens that stopped at 154. Long line of vehicles in lane to turn right on 154 for 30+ minutes. Not a word in Monday's News-Press.

It was right near Calle Real & 154. I heard it was a 3 car collision, one person went away on stretcher, more of a mess than serious injuries, which is good!
