Curious about these "burned" trees on 101, I later realized they're the "cormorant trees" mentioned in Edhat's UH Rail Walk. The white coating on the trees and ground looks like it had burned and been extinguished with some white fire suppressant powder. On the concrete railroad edge barrier and the seawall below, antics by birds of a different feather in the form of graffiti. Nearby the Sheriff "whirly bird" was performing over the freeway at Padaro Lane.
