Last Wednesday, City tree guys, Dave and Chuck, lopped off 83 of these huge cones. Dave was up 85-feet into crown of the Araucaria bidwillii at Alameda Park West, and it was pretty exciting, watching these "babies" fall! The kernels inside the cones are not only edible, but delicious, as some of the onlookers discovered.
