Scanner Reports 7-13-12
updated: Jul 13, 2012, 7:05 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Thank Dog it's FRYday! That was some catch the otter night for the SBPD in the 2200 Block of State Street. That criminal reminds me of the type of person that was committing a crime to see what it's like. Kinda testing the waters to see if it filled his need. I'm no expert but I think sooner than later he was going to really hurt someone, maybe even kill them. There he was totally lying in wait for some unsuspecting victim to come along. He already got two victims within a half hour period pretty much unsuccessful the 3rd time might have been the charm for him. Just think if he would have had a weapon, then Officer Tyler Larson of all people collars him. OLD GUYS RULE!

I just hope now that he is caught he will stay locked up for a while. For a while now I have heard of people being cited and released before their court date this to me doesn't reflect on the good work by our Police Dept. This to me is just another part of the business of justice. I would hate to be a police officer that arrested a potentially dangerous criminal for an act of violence only to see them back out on the streets a few days later. Deals are routinely made through our court system between public defenders and criminals to plead "No Contest" A basic admission of guilt for a lesser sentence. I heard one a month or so ago a domestic situation where a man choked a girlfriend he was caught cited and let go the next day police were talking about the same guy talking about how he had choked his girlfriend the night before and he was already home.

He probably had a court date, but meanwhile he was back out on the streets anyway. This is one of the reasons why I wish the North County Jail would have got the vote. To relieve some of the pressure and overcrowding inside our own County jail. There are other things that can be done to relieve overcrowding but that requires changing laws like building another jail it all takes time. Meanwhile the best things we can all do is watch out for each other. Watch your neighborhood for suspicious people. If you feel insecure about your surroundings change them or carry pepper spray. Of course these are things we all have been doing all along pretty much. Just continue to do them.
