Mattress Removal
updated: Jul 10, 2012, 5:13 PM

I was curious if I could get a referral on an inexpensive way to get rid of a used queen size mattress, box spring and wood frame. I am moving and am trying to cut costs.

tried...to many scams and people who promise to pick up and never do. I just need a disposal service probably...and not leave it out on the street like some do in my neighborhood.

Won't Marborg pick it up? /they offer a free big trash pick-up once or twice a year.

If you're in Santa Barbara, Marborg gives you a once-a-year free pickup of such items. You have to book ahead, letting Marborg know (I think) to pick up one or two days ahead of your normal pickup day. 963-1852

Please don't leave it out on curb as trash. It might sit there for days and days.

Put it on the street with a sign that says libre. It will be gone by the am.

Just bring it to my neighborhood, San Andres & Anapamu area and leave it at the curb... Either someone will take it, or it will get picked up my the trash people.... Normal for this area.

There's a number you can call to report abandoned "curb alert" trash and they will come pick it up for free...

In SB you get one free yearly pickup of as much as you can put on your curb. If you're in Goleta, you get two free pick ups a year. Just call Marborg and tell them you have a mattress and oversized items. If you call this week, you can get scheduled for their free weekly pickup next Wednesday.

Second Craigslist. We moved from a one story place to a two story one and couldn't fit our box springs upstairs. Sold it on Craigslist in just a few hours.

I'd say Craigslist or better yet, pop it out a at any corner in the city, put the word "FREE" onto a piece of paper attached & it'll be gone by sunrise.

1. Advertise on Craigslist for free put it outside afor Sale for $5.00 ( not free) and someone will steal it. If that doesnt work in 2 days call Marborg for your free pick up

Craigslist. However, when I tried to give one away 'free' there were almost no calls. People thought it must be 'junk', so I re-advertised it for $50, included a couple photos and got lots of calls. Sold it to a UCSB student for $20, he thought he got a bargain and was glad to get it and I was glad to get rid of it. Hmmm, makes you wonder.

As someone who lives on the Westside, suggesting yet something else be dumped here is not even funny! We are constantly calling the City's abandoned furniture hotline to come get other peoples' junk picked up from in front of our house. Rude to think this is okay in any way!

6164.... sales is all about perceived value. An anonymous and abandoned mattress on the street has the value of garbage. Who wants to sleep on garbage?

Actually, better to put a sign that says "Please do not take this. " And, it will be "stolen" , if you take it to the Westside San Andres & Anapamu area....
