July 08, 2012 - Paradoxes in Paradise

So Summer Solstice and the Fourth July, 2012 have passed in Santa Barbara. Now our winter residents can go to their summer homes, and summer residents can settle in. We had a similar discussion this week at the Edhat office. If you lived somewhere else, would you visit Santa Barbara - in the winter when it is cold everywhere else, or in the summer when our beachy town becomes beachy? Thank goodness we live here. Thank goodness we live here and don't have to choose. Of course, there are other paradoxes in the sandbox, like; our town is famous for its surf culture, but you really have to go out of town for some good surf; we're many miles north of Mexico, yet people visit here for the Mexican food. And, our most famous resident doesn't live here, right? There are many more paradoxes in paradise that we could ponder on this beautiful, beachy summer day. Maybe you can share some on our comments board.

When you're done with that, we've got some good summer reading. The Dog of the Week is Skippy, one cool dog; the Cats of the Week are Betty and Jonny, the twins. Edda is back with her sage advice, and Nicole is prepping for the big race. Get your Edhat T-shirt and join her!

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

Nicole: Nicole is prepping for her big race, discovering a mind blowing director, and advising everyone to properly use sunblock.

ASK EDDA: Dear Edda, I was in Gelson's parking lot the other day and an SUV came up too close and tapped the front of our car.

CAT OF THE WEEK: Meet Betty and Jonny, the rambunctious siblings.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Skippy, the coolest rider in Santa Barbara.
