I think I am having the same problem. My plan is to call edison and cox...and find out why. I think they are both on the same same frequency..here is a link that might be helpful.

Good luck with that. With all the problems with smart meters present, including fires and health complaints-I don't know why Santa Barbara allowed them to go forward. In Ojai, they have banned them. As a renter, I have to pay EACH TIME I move into a home -should I want to OPT-out of the Smart Meter. That is 75 dollars per move, for people who cannot afford to buy a home. If you live in an apt. you could end up right next to the whole row of SMART METERS! PG&E put out a warning ten years ago about such large electromagnetic fields...I guess they forgot.

The smart meter isn't going to bother wi-fi. It is in the 900-928 MHz band and wi-fi is 2.4 GHz or higher.

Mine was installed a week ago and I typically use my wireless laptop just on the other side of the wall from the meter. No issues whatsoever.

Well I have been getting slow Internet service from Cox but that is just since the fourth of July and the smart meter has been in for a couple of months now. My electric bill went up with no new appliances or perceivable increase in electricity use. I have also not been able to sleep well and the meter is on the other side of the wall of the bedroom but who knows if that is cause and effect.

My mom is having the same problem with her internet all of a sudden and she JUST got her meter installed too! She called her internet provider and they said she had the fastest internet available. She had her computer checked for viruses/spyware. It's all good there too. Hmmm.....

Your smart meter cannot interfere with your wifi, at all. Ever.
Your smart meter making you lose sleep is all in your mind.

You were susceptible to the luddite's scaremongering maybe you'll listen to a sane and rational person.

Science is your friend folks.

How about cell phone reception? Our cell phone reception has become highly erratic inside our home. Usually we need to go outside to make calls now. Verizon says reception is good in my neighborhood (it always has been). This all started a few months ago when Edison placed 5 smart meters on my house.

For what it's worth, SCE installed a smart meter at my house about 2 months ago and my next electric bill went down from the usual amount. I've had no issues with my wireless computing either.

It's like me thinking that the sudden low-flow of water coming out from my kitchen faucet was related to a neighbor Condo that installed a water filter onto their units main plumbing line. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ But, it turned out, the filters on my faucet had debris collected... like calcium deposits from the city water. Once that was cleaned, my water flow was back to normal....

Smart meter installed at my house a while ago. Internet and cable and cell phones work same as before - sometimes great and sometimes not at all. Time conincidence is not the same as cause and effect. Could they cause some problems - maybe but not all the problems people are blaming on the meters

We have a new Smart Meter that was put on 30 min . after the 1st meter destroyed items, and are very nervous about how well this one is made? What a piece of junk! nice ideal, put poor quality!

The issue, to me, is not the science, or the possible heath affects (which I doubt), it is the ability of the utility (and, most importantly, the legions of governing bodies that control them) to be able to control the use of electricty that is delivered.
When I called PG&E about this many moons ago, they denied it was possible. Wrong!
Anyone heard of Big Brother? The fact that most everything works well is head in the sand consciousness.

In times of fear and uncertainty, people do look for simplistic scape goats. Remember "Kill the Piggie" in Lord of the Flies and do take in all the 1950's sci-fi movies now at UCSB summer film festival when the world at that post WWII era was ripe to be taken over by un-named alien beings.

People willingly sell their lives and souls in the electronic media yet fear Big Brother snooping on them through their smart meters.

What is the common denominator here: choice or no choice. That is the underlying vulnerability. You keep a sense of control if you choose to be stupid in the electronic media on your own. But when someone else imposes the electronic world on you, then one fears conspiracy mind control.

Who even teaches the Greek myths anymore in our politically correct public education systems. Those who do not learn from the past, are doomed to repeat it.

I am opting out of smart meter. Don't think we need it, don't want it and resent Edison shoving it down our throats. Anyone who thinks EMF is a myth needs to talk to an electrical engineer. Go stand next to your microwave, you koolaid drinkers, and fry your health. Not me.

Bad enough we all use computers, cellphones and such. Sleeping next to a smart meter? Thanks, but no thanks.

Both my internet and telephone went down with in 24 hours after the smart meter was installed. Cox had to send out a repair man to fix the phone connection. I want it removed but have been threatened with a $75.00 initial charge and a monthly $10.00 fee. Why? The smart meter puts people out of work, it is dangerous to the health of people and animals, and I question if the charges to make the initial instillation will be ended after the costs are re-cooped?

Edison sent me a letter saying that if I wanted to opt-out of having a so called smart meter I needed to contact them no later than a date that was "before" the letter was even sent to me ....... and that it was going to cost me a LOT more money to keep my old meter. It made me think it would be cheaper to pay an ex-meter reader (who has lost his job to smart meters) to come and read mine once a month.

I sure miss freedom of choice :(

A scientist sought to investigate how removing a frog's legs, one at a time, affected its ability to jump. He set the frog on a table and yelled "Jump, frog! Jump!" and measured how far the frog jumped. He cut off the legs one by one, and after each leg he set the frog on the table and yelled "Jump, frog! Jump!" Here are his results:

Four legs - frog jumps eight feet
Three legs - frog jumps six feet
Two legs - frog jumps three feet
One leg - frog jumps six inches
No legs - frog loses its hearing

The SCE smart meters only transmit data once per day around midnight for about 90 seconds. So if you're getting interference, it would most likely only happen during those 90 seconds out of the day.

"Science is your friend folks." I wish it was. I wish they still taught it, and history, and logic in the schools. The amount of nonsense that people subscribe to terrifies me. They'll talk on a cell phone for hours, or install wireless internet (or seek out wireless hot spots), but are afraid of a smart meter? I despair just thinking about the general scientific illiteracy of the nation nowadays. We went to the moon in the 60s! We're afraid of all the wrong things 50 years later. Your grandparents -- the aerospace engineers who won WWII and created the space program -- would be ashamed.

If you don't like smart meters and you feel like big brother is watching you, get off the grid! cancel edison. get solar power or fire up that generator or sit in the dark with candles. You don't have to take it anymore. Just live in the dark ages. throw away your lap top cancel your internet and you would never know that a smart meter was installed in the first place. Smart meters are making people dumb, you must destroy them.
