Give It to Me Live (But not too Live)

With the crappy weather we've stayed home today, wondering if there's local TV coverage of fireworks either SB waterfront or Goleta? DirecTV schedule has reruns on KEYT which seems a shame, can't they turn a camera down toward the waterfront from their offices on the Mesa? Local FM station I could tune into instead for music?

The one in Goleta just ended. We watched it from our front yard near Brandon School.

I agree. Why doesn't KEYT have live coverage?

Goleta's fireworks show was awesome. Well worth the 6 buck admission fee.

Just got back from the show at the Santa Ynez mission in Solvang - always a really good show with first-rate views of the fireworks no matter where you are and no overcast. I think we paid $5 entry.

Walked 2 miles with my family to the beach, sat in the sand down by the Harbor and the fireworks were right over us and totally amazing. Fog didn't do anything but keep it from being cold out tonight! GREAT show, thank you to all the folks that put it on, it was worth the walk with the crowds! Actually, the walk up State Street under the freeway was awesome, everyone yelled and whistled while we were under it, it was a giant sea of people, so cool! :)

7 comments but only one on topic. And no answers to my question of why doesn't KEYT show the fireworks live.

Well then... why don't you call KEYT and ask?

KEYT probably doesn't show ours because several channels have the displays from the east ( Macy's, etc.) and it wouldn't be worth interrupting regular programing. Ours are wonderful, but the others are almost beyond belief, and some have a full orchestra playing patriotic music.

I watched the show from my balcony - fireworks shown brightly in the Goleta Ghetto - it was a really nice show - the fog actually made it look even prettier. Thanks to all who put it on. Nice thing about SB and Goleta shows is that you can watch them from a distance and still enjoy them...have never been much for crowds.

391 gets my point, sometimes I don't want to be in a crowd. I wonder how many shut-ins or folks in hospital would like to see our local show televised on KEYT because they CAN'T get out. I didn't call, I contacted them on Facebook. They didn't answer my WHY question, they dodged it by saying they posted still pics to Facebook. I figured if they didn't broadcast, and wouldn't answer my question with a straight answer on a public forum (here, and Facebook), they wouldn't answer over the phone either. Oh well, another case (in my view) of our local TV news channel failing us.
