SMHS Crosswalk

Has anyone else noticed that the pedestrian crosswalk at San Marcos High School &
Magna Vista St seems to randomly start flashing every so often. Seems to catch
alot of motorist off guard & causes them to slam on their brakes. That cant be
normal for those crosswalks??

Happens at the mid-block crossing across Hollister in Old Town between Wendy's and the Community Center too.

They're being triggered by those pesky nearby Smart meters. That, coupled with the bulbouts, is a plot. to one day bring all traffic to a halt. Then no one will be able to go home and "they" will be able to just walk into our homes and take over. Really! I heard it on Fox News.

The crosswalk from the harbor parking lot into Pershing Park should have flashing lights, too. After someone crosses, the lights stay red for motorists. If it flashed after a short period, motorists could proceed when clear. Traffic can be heavy in that area when SBCC is in session and this is an unnecessary bottleneck. Does anyone know a contact person where can suggestions like this be made?

Drove by today and saw a city employee tinkering with the button on the high school side of the street.

Do you mean flashing yellow to announce that there is a crosswalk in the vicinity? Those are usually set to flash at the times that pedestrians are usually crossing, e.g., when school starts, lunchtime, and when school gets out. If drivers have to slam on their brakes, they're probably driving too fast in the first place.

Hey Roger, there are two in Old Town. One I mentioned, plus one to cross to or from the Natural Cafe! I've never seen that one blink oddly (malfunction?), however. The one at Wendy's used to do it a lot.

Hi, Roger: I'd like to tell you what neighborhood I live in but my Smart meter blocks my computer from sending out that information. It also canceled my subscription to the News-Press. Oh...wait...I guess I did that myself. Never mind.
