Where is the best place to watch the Waterfront's 4th of July Fireworks other than sitting on the beach?

I miss the all day fun with the sand pits. Man did people get out of hand. There would be so many drunk people it was more entertaining watching them then the fireworks.

the cool thing about fireworks is that you can see them from all over, so the tops of the parking lots are really good places to see them, and no one goes there!

Don't take a kayak out at night where you know there is high power boat traffic!! at night you need lights, it is common sense

I took a group to the Smart and Final Parking lot one year. We could see just fine and we were able to leave quickly and avoid all the traffic also. There may also be fireworks in Goleta and can be see all over the valley.

Ride a bike to the beach and pick your spot. When the fireworks are over, walk the bike a couple of blocks until you're clear of the foot traffic, then glide away ahead of the car traffic.

A friend told me to use the ladder on the back of Rustys Pizza, and sneak onto the rooftop.. best view ever. ( back in my day, we would sneak ontop of the California Hotel from the fire escape ) good luck!!

How about the harbor, the wharf, or the grassy area along Cabrillo between the street and the beach, from the wharf to East Beach (collectively known as Chase Palm Park)? Nice grassy area, good views!

TV Hill. Just park in the KEYT lot and walk out to their observation deck.... my friend told me it's okay, in case anyone should ask.

I have always enjoyed the fireworks show from the hills looking down at them. At my age it's easier on the neck as well as there is no crowd or traffic jam. On west Camino Cielo it is possible to see SB's and Goleta's fireworks simultaneously.

I sure miss El Encanto! That would be a great spot... a glass of wine, an appetizer. When are they going to open again? Anybody know?

I second the top level of most of the parking lots. We ended up at the Ortega/Anacapa lot one year when we waited too long to get down to the beach. Show was just as good and you can avoid most of the crowd.

I like to float in the air with an invisible hover ship, that way I can get close to the show and not be seen and told to leave.
