I would like a map of Santa Barbara's backcountry. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I purchased one at Island Seed & Feed in Goleta--- laminated, fold-out. Seems like something you'd be able to get at a sporting goods store like REI or SB Outfitters.

UCSB Map & Imagery Lab has the largest collection of maps worldwide, second only to NASA. An unbelievably rich, largely unknown resource in our community!

Chaucer's, for both trail guides and local back country maps.

For topo maps and commercial books/map try the outdoor sports shops (TrailHead, SBOutfitters, MountainAire) or even the USFS office or any ranger station for just topos.

Some online sites even let you print your own though they use scanned topos which aren't checked too well for quality, the scans that is.

Bryan Conant has made the best SB Backcountry maps to date. bryan conant dot com I've seen them for sale all over (maybe the SB Outfitters carries them), but for sure I've seen them at Hook Line & Sinker at 4010 Calle Real # 5.

I bought my Bryan Conant map of the San Rafael Wilderness at REI. They also have maps of Dick Smith and Sespe Wilderness.

The Travel Store on Anapamu used to have local maps. Try them, shop local.

A new guide to the trails in the southern Los Padres National Forest has just been published...it's by Craig Carey and I think Wilderness Press put it out. Very comprehensive, if you want a book along with the map...

What does USFS stand for ? Couldn't find any listing in the phone book. I'd like a small laminated map of CA freeway system.
