Solstice 2012 Drum Count
updated: Jun 24, 2012, 8:00 AM

By The Edhat Staff

The Solstice parade went above and beyond the designated "Fantasy" theme. There were large choreographed dance troops with blinding shimmery costumes, a giant contracting pink ball with an acrobat flipping around inside, amazingly detailed floats of all sizes and colors, and Solstice wouldn't be complete without scantily clad locals covered in strategically placed body paint.

The Edhat staff was in full force this year; cameras in one hand and counters in the other. After careful deliberation, the total for drums came to 126. That's a slight leap from last year where the count was at 116. Although, we have yet to surpass the 2010 benchmark of 141 drums. To see our count history, click here.

We noticed this year was a little more packed than last. There seemed to be a lot more tourists and visitors to the parade this time around. Even though the crowds were a little hectic at times, it brought a lively and diverse feel to our small little town. Below are a few photos of our favorite costumes and floats. What were yours?
