June 3, 2012 - Comings and Goings

With open arms and a tip of the hat, Ed and the dedicated staff of edhat.com welcome back our old friend, Nicole to the website. Nicole left us for a couple of years, but secretly lamented quitting her column on Edhat. We found her in the Edhat office recently, playing the "box game" with the Edhat Dog. We knew the time had come for her to return.

The box game is played by tossing used cardboard boxes from the recycle bin across the hard wood floor. The Dog chases the box, and pounces on it like a good deal from Groupon. The Dog and the box often slide into the wall. Quickly, the dog gets up and runs around the room holding the box firmly in her mouth. A chase ensues, and the box is eventually retrieved, re-thrown, and the fun starts again.

The box game is a kick in the pants. And the only thing that makes it funnier is when Nicole plays. She even brings her own boxes!

But the good news is that Nicole is back! Her new column is appropriately named Nicole 2.0. The first installment has been posted and there is a link to it below.

On a not so happy note, Ed and the gang would like to offer our best wishes and good luck to Lunch with Louie, a Friend of Ed (FOE) if ever there was one. Louie and his fantastic wife, Julie, have left our little blue town by the big blue sea for the bright lights of Las Vegas. Louie, we hope you find the food there more to your liking.

To read all of Nicole's old columns, click the "Nicole" button on the left side of the edhat.com website. To read Louie's old reviews, click the "Food" button and look at the reviews from 2004 and 2005.

One last item of interest for this first Sunday in June. Today is the State Street Mile and Dog Run/Walk. As announced last year, the Edhat Dog (who ran 3rd place one year - with a runner, 2nd place last year - without a runner, and a 4-minute mile two years ago in the 30 and under race - after breaking free from her leash) will not be running this year (she's 10 years old, ya know). But we hope that all you Edhat subscribers will pick up the leash and participate in the races, the family walk, and in the dog events.

In other Edhat news, we are seeing double. The Dogs of the Week are Kona and Dane, BDFs, the Cats of the Week are Atlas and Echo, inseparable brothers; John Wiley took some aerial shots of I Madonnari; and in case you didn't know, Nicole's back!
