Heck Yeah We Live in Santa Barbara
updated: May 12, 2012, 9:30 AM
By the Urban Hikers
As many of you know, as of New Year's Eve 2011 we officially concluded walking each
and every street in the City of Santa Barbara. Along the way we've taken thousands of
photos, and while we've shared many of of our favorites with you there are still a whole
bunch we haven't included in our stories. So...as we buy a little extra time to finish our
story about the Biltmore Pier, Hammond's, Bonnymeade, Montecito Shores and that
general area, we'll simply share some of the numerous sights that caught our fancy as
we strolled along the streets of SB. We think you'll agree that these photos depict a few
of the things that make Santa Barbara the gem that it is.
So, in no particular order, here are a few of our favorite city homes.

And these are some of the lovely details we passed along the city streets...only
by walking and taking time to look around were we able to discover many of these
delightful surprises.

Santa Barbara abounds with business, and although we generally steer clear of
sharing images of commercial interests, these iconic images begged to be included in
our "favorites"..so we added them for their "quintessential SB" factor.

We've seen lots and lots of gorgeous views along our walks, and these images
captured only a few of our favorites.

We love this town and are so glad we can say, "Heck yeah we live in Santa Barbara!"
As always we encourage you to go out and explore your town, meet your neighbors,
keep your eyes, ears and minds open to all that you encounter, and above all, expect
the unexpected.

Absolutely spectacular! Thank you for the reminder of why we live here. But I bet you two could find beauty and interesting sights in Barstow, Brawley, or any other non-garden spot.

Shows even "affordable" Santa Barbara has charms worthy the sacrifices to stay and enjoy them. No, Santa Barbara is not necessarily a wealthy community at all. Instead, at all levels it is a loved community and a personally expressive community. Many of those shots are from the Westside part of town. And that is where one also finds many of the best holiday light displays too. There are no bad parts of town to live in at all. Just a few too many resentful snobs who seem to think so but have not really tried to make life work for them in this town -- any part of town.

LOVE LOVE...That quail is beautiful. We have a mocking bird flying around singing the quail song. It stops me in my tracks, I love their song. I'm so blessed everyday to be able to live here. So thankful...

You get so many well-deserved kudos but I want to add mine anyway. Wonderful stories and photos. You should put it all in a book (I'm sure not the first time you've heard that). We can't afford SB but live in Buellton and visit SB often. Such a wonderful city!
