Just saw what looked like 4 UFO's over Montecito, about 8:30
My roommate drove up, jumped out and said "did you see it did you see it?'
Just wondered if anyone else saw them?

756 - Did I use the word "aliens"? Read for comprehension. I know there are lots of aliens here, and the evidence is on all the Air France itineraries.

A "UFO" doesn't necessarily have to be extraterrestrial, or alien in origin. As a rule 97-98% of UFO sightings in the past have been explained quite easily in terms of, for example, atmospheric events, misidentification of airplanes or celestial bodies (especially Venus) and optical illusions. The remaining 2-3% of sightings remain true unknowns. Some have had radar returns (indicating a solid object), physical traces resulting from landing, or anomalous radiation levels. Many have been observed by reliable members of the community (police officers, military etc), including multiple witnesses. Keep an open mind. If you see a UFO, go to mufon dot com and make a report.

@756 Seriously, how often do you hear people use the expression UFO without an extraterrestrial context? Thanks for the laugh. :D

Right. If there's no evidence, it must be a conspiracy. They've also seized all the evidence for purple unicorns and 2000 mpg engine designs.

They're just collecting data from Smart Meters and beaming it back to the moon base. Nothing to worry about.

Science requires evidence and data - and for extraterrestrial visitors there is essentially none. Lots of anecdotal hysteria, but no data. There are lots of potentially habitable planets being found, and probably lots of life out there. The problem with visitors is the distances involved, and the laws of physics, which impose a speed limit. Handwave all you want about advanced technologies, but there is, so far, *no evidence* to back it up.

Hey, I saw things like that once and was blown away. Later, I thought more about it and came up with a plausible explanation: early evening hang gliders, high up enough to catch the glistening sun's rays, flying together for fun. Anyone?

This is what i mean... the reason why I didn't describe what my house-mates saw was so as not to influence or tip-off the report of others. But here we mostly get a bunch of mean and silly comments with just a few thoughtful ones.

So, when multiple credible witnesses, in this case sober and alert, see something unusual in the sky that cannot be explained in mundane, everyday terms, what is the factor that induces so many people, by default, to accuse the witness of being a "kook", or a "druggie", or "drunk", or (heaven forbid) a "conspiracy theorist"? People need to research the topic before engaging the lip-flapping. What a shame that it is becoming increasingly difficult to discuss controversial topics (UFOs, false flag terrorism etc.) in a mature, rational fashion, without the conversation devolving into infantilism and name-calling. How sad it is that the mainstream scientific community refuses to acknowledge the phenomenon, let alone investigate it. Isn't the refusal to look at *all* the data, and the refusal to investigate impartially- the classic hallmark of BAD SCIENCE?

I know at least two people witnessed this. I just spoke with one of the witnesses. She doesn't smoke pot, (nor do I - it's off topic, but it's a crazy world where medicinal pot is criminalized and a dangerous psychosis-heart attack inducing drug like chantix is legal). According to this witnesses, the glowing orbs were over East Valley Road, looked solid on the bottom and translucent on top. It appeared as if the first one slowed down so the others could catch up, and they moved in formation. The sighting lasted for about a minute and a half. The witness stopped her car and watched for a about a minute.

Those were my house-mates that saw the UFOs last night and they are very sober, intelligent and rational people. I think it's thoughtless and kind of disrespectful to turn this into a joke or bring up another subject like pot. They'd never seen one before or even mentioned the word 'aliens', only vividly describing some kind of unusual craft. So this thread will really show who are the idiots and trolls.

Hey, it's unidentified by them! The term "UFO" does not mean someone's an alien nut -- or a nut about aliens. Good chance the aviation lovers & pilots on Edhat can answer the OP's question.
