May 7, 2012- Supermoon
The picture of the day, or more accurately, the night, was of Saturday's "supermoon,"
which appeared 14% bigger and 30% brighter as it reached perigee, the closest part of it's elliptical orbit to earth.
In the news: This weekend offered up near perfect weather and Edhatters shared their pictures of forays into the local front and back country. About 150 cyclists participated in a memorial bike ride Sunday, in honor of Jim Hamlin, a Santa Maria cyclist who was killed while riding his bicycle on 4/29/12.
