Teak Furniture Maintenance
updated: Apr 18, 2012, 12:04 PM
We have a lot of teak outdoor furniture that needs maintenance - sanding, cleaning, sealing, etc. Would love to know if there is someone local with the know-how who can come to our house in Santa Barbara to do this work. We would also welcome any tips for keeping teak nice looking.

Russell Long 252-7582 does this work. Courteous, affordable and responsible. I've used him many times for painting, refinishing furniture, etc.

I thank teak ages beautifully without sealing or staining. It is such a hard dense wood--thought that was THE reason it is used for all weather outdoor use? In any case good luck--it seems these inquiries always generate positive results from grateful customers. You should have your furniture back the way you like it !

Do it yourself. Last nite, I sanded (using an electric sander) and then applied Watco Teak oil to 10 pieces of furniture - total time was ~ 2 hours. After 72 hours have passed, I'll add a coat of varnish. I do this once a year and my 12 year old furniture looks brand new.
