What's the deal with cabs in this town? It seems like every time I take a diferent one home they all have different prices. How many companies are there? Does anyone have a recommendation for a cab driver that will take good care of me?

I like Nour at Fly By Night Taxi since he was alot cheaper than others I took to and from the airport ($31 to the Upper Eastside - same as a shuttle). Plus, it's a relatively nice car, he's a good driver and plays classical music! 805-708-2906

I've used Santa Barbara Checker cab repeatedly, always clean, courteous, on-time and same price. 966-6666 (easy to remember too).
Additionally I ask for the price upfront when I call. Then I know, and they know too.

If it's going to be a frequent ride. Like daily. Ask for a flat discount rate. During the day, most cab drivers would be falling over themselves trying to get your daily business. At night, not so much. They get tons of money from the IV kids and other drunks. So, my advice is to negotiate with the drivers, select the best comfortable cab with the right price. Set up the time of pick up and return (if you know that) and feel comfortable that you have a caring, sober individual that will drive you around safely.

Dan 450-2519. I think he's on call just for me as he is always prompt and if he's not on duty he will send another trusted driver. Put his number in your phone under cab. He's prompt and drama-free.
