April 6, 2012 - Painted Ladies

We humans do love to gild the lily! A reader sent in a picture of a prized hibiscus that is so wonderfully gaudy, one wonders if nature would have ever come up with it on her own.

In the news: SB Community Services Dept. announced that the beaches in IV will be closed on 4/7/12 to prevent "Floatopia" from occurring. Over 200 homeless participated in a "Holy Thursday," a foot washing ritual organized by Willbridge where they received medical care, a foot bath, and a new pair of shoes. The fire department responded to a cigarette ignited debris fire in an underground electrical vault on West Carrillo Street. Read these stories and more below.
