Alice "Dolly" Amelia Begg passed away peacefully at home in Montecito on March 29, 2012, at the age of 91.

Alice "Dolly" was born in Goleta, California on November 11, 1921 and had a twin brother Frederick Carl Acres, Jr. (deceased), born to Frederick Carl Acres, Sunnyvale, California, and Amelia Acres (Scudelari), descendant of Italian immigrant family who arrived in Santa Barbara County in 1885. Alice "Dolly" grew up on the family farm located on Fairview Avenue, Goleta. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Santa Barbara High School. On December 27, 1942, at St. Raphael's church in Goleta, Alice"Dolly" married her high school sweetheart - the "love of her life", George Allen Begg, and had been schoolmates since the first grade and through high school. Alice "Dolly" and George started their lives together in Goleta, raised two sons, George Frederick and Edwin Allen, and later moved to Montecito.

In November 1955, Alice "Dolly" entered the dental field as a dental assistant for 11 years. In January 1971, she accepted the opportunity to organize and run the dental clinic for the University of California at Santa Barbara. She served as the president of the California Dental Assistants association. During the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she participated in the passing of the Torch. She retired in 1991.

Prior to and after retirement she enjoyed taking many wonderful cruises to foreign lands with her husband George throughout their 70 marriage.

Alice "Dolly" truly loved and embraced life fully. She gave generously of herself to everyone around her and set the highest standards of dignity, loyalty, honesty, and dedication with all aspects of her life, and was always a perfect lady with class. Her loving presence and wisdom were constant and uplifting. She will be deeply missed by her very loving family consisting of two sons, George Frederick (wife Kathy) of Goleta and Edwin Allen of Santa Barbara; two grandsons, Scott Allen Begg (wife Susan), residing in Newbury Park, and Kevin David Begg, residing in San Diego; four great-grandchildren, Elise, Brooke, Abigail, and Tyler (all loves of her life), together with extended family Frank and Jackie Gambetta (Santa Barbara), Tom and Betty Colwell (Florida), and loving and dedicated caregivers Mary Jaenchen, Cathy Renick.

Celebration of life will be held on April 22, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Carriage Museum, 129 Castillo Street, Santa Barbara.

Services will be held on April 13, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Calvary Cemetery 199 N. Hope Avenue, Santa Barbara.
