I'm looking for a double pane window for our bedroom in a condo. Would love to get a great price and someone local. Any recommendations?

Check with your condo owner's association. Condo ownership as a tenant-in-common implies they own the exterior walls and they have a big say in what can be done to them. But since this is for energy efficiency, or noise control, they may have no problem with it, as long as it doesn't significantly change the look of the building.

The best place to buy them is at the Double Pane Window Store. Fantastic selection, very low prices (below wholesale) and same day installation - installation is free. Go for it!

What is the contact info for the Double Pane Window Store? Tried Googling but couldn't find anything.

Beware of Callendar's Glass. They made double-pane windows for me out of two pieces of regular glass. Very heavy as a result, and difficult to move.

We just used Bella View Windows about 3-4 months ago. Local company. Installed 6 windows and 2 sliding glass doors in our condo. They are very reasonable and did a great job. I wish I would've installed dual paned windows a long time ago. They really make a positive difference.

what kind of glass other than regular did you want? Dual pane windows ARE heavy for multiple reasons. Check your weatherstripping.

Avoid Quality Glass (on Milpas). They made mistake after mistake after mistake on a very simple project for us. Nightmare.

We had Bella View in Goleta put in a bunch of new windows - Milgard - and they did a great job.

If this is for noise reduction, you might want to consider getting the double-pane with the extra thick glass. So, one of the double panes is normal, and the second pane is extra thick.

We had Bella View install all the windows plus 3 sliding glass doors in our 4 bedroom house a few years ago--they did it all in one day at a reasonable price, left no mess and did a great job. And they are local.

Pella windows are fine. They have a removable inner pane that allows you to clean them every once-in-a-while. They also have breathing holes that prevent moisture from seeping into the space between panes. They are expensive, but worth every nickel.

Try the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store near K-Mart. They have tons of windows of many sizes and once they are installed, you can't tell them from new. We found a few the correct size and saved Hundred$. Almost any Handyman can install them. Reduce/Re use/Recycle.
