Scanner Reports 3-15-12
updated: Mar 14, 2012, 7:05 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Already Hump Day again. If I was married this would be too much for me, I just can't move around like I used to. I think Cal Trans has done a wonderful job on the Highway 101 construction project the Milpas Underpants is beautiful, no skid marks at all yet...It will be interesting to see how many people can sleep under the bridge comfortably as it's supposed to rain this weekend coming up. That really stinks for me as I have all my junk gathered up and was planning a sidewalk sale but maybe I'll just put most of it in a classified ad and give the books away. I have a great looking book about the California Condors. I know there are some bird watchers here.

I read a letter to the Editor in the Daily Sound yesterday by one of my fellow East Side Neighbors. The woman wrote about a bad experience she had with some homeless men in front of the home she rents. She did not say what street she lives on but I stink it's off Carpinteria on the other side of the bridge from me. She said as she was going off to work these 4 men parked themselves in front of her home. She had her baby with her as she requested they move on, two did, one walked away cussing at her all the way up the street. The other stared her down smiling at her and talked poo poo toward her and her child. She goes on to say she isn't Anti Homeless, she is Anti Casa Esperanza. Me too I'll have what she's having. These guys don't sound like they are mentally ill to me - they sound like bullies intimidating a mother and her child. Has our society sold out women and children for the rights of bullies and criminals? Do they now have more rights than women and children? That right there is enough to make me vote Republican BUTT some republicans don't seem to care anymore either; they want to make deals instead. "If you vote for us and we all win we will do whatever you want." Blah, Blah, Blah. I will always have compassion for the real homeless, but not criminals. I don't have compassion for predators.

As I am writing this a report went over my Scanner that two homeless men blocking the sidewalk at Quinientos near the Trader Joes entrance. This is the neighborhood the woman is talking about. There are a lot of problems in that area. I saw a heavy police presence there last week and no transients around panhandling, as soon as they left the predators are back. An officer just reported he's on foot in the first block of South Milpas and there's not even any donut stores around. Sooner or later something is going to have to be done or it's going to get much worse. I like the police in Santa Barbara I think they do the best they can with what they got. They are awfully busy, most of the time. If you don't believe me by all means buy a scanner, cheap used ones could be found on E-Bay.
