updated: Mar 05, 2012, 9:24 AM
I want to find someone who will knock apart and haul away some old kitchen cabinets. I'm in SB. Any recommendations?

If they are salvagable, then try the Habitat Restore.

Why break them if they can be passed on, donated, or recycled? A quick craigslist 'free' ad will rid you of them at no cost to you.

If they are not 70s built ins like most of Goleta, you can sell them on Craigslist. Otherwise, use the service that Hoarders use, 1800GOTJUNK

When we remodeled, we carefully removed our kitchen cabinets (the ones above the counter) and hung them on our garage walls. They make great storage for paint cans, garden tools, hiking/camping equipment, etc. We eventually painted them to match the garage walls, and they look great and are serving a second life. Why knock 'em down?

Alas, these were parked outside by previous tenants for who knows how many years. The rats like them, but I am not sure any other human would. Do Edhatters still think that someone out there would like them as is?

If you hate having them there, it is very theraputic to knock them apart yourself. We removed what we could from our old 60s Goleta built-ins for use in the garage and our temporary outside "kitchen" before remodeling. Then, took a sledgehammer to the rest. It was fun! Wear a mask and gloves if there are rats.
