Scanner Reports 3-5-12
updated: Mar 05, 2012, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Early on Sunday morning I woke up and heard a city police officer requesting Rape Crisis. It was around 5am - I went back to bed. I woke up again later on and heard the same police officer ask, Estimated time of arrival for Rape Crisis? I think that was around 9am. I'm wondering if it took them that long to respond? Or were they on another case? Not hearing the original call but the request for Rape Crisis I'm assuming that there was a rape in the city of Santa Barbara over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon I heard a Sheriffs Officer request the Rape Crisis team. I did not hear the whole call but am assuming that there was another rape in the county possibly Isla Vista. So I want to let ya all know "To be careful out there." In the words of the great Michael Conrad. Take those words to heart. There's a lot of scrap going on out there nowadays.

The other morning a fella fell off a 2nd story balcony injuring his head. I heard the doctor at Cottage answer a request to give the patient something to calm him down. The doctor said "No, just give him a little morphine and roll." I understand that people under the influence of alcohol with head injuries don't always recover, and in fact, many people die from head injuries under the influence of alcohol. I tried to do a little research on this but did not come up with a lot of information on it. Are there any medical professionals out there that can give us a bit of the "Low Down" on this..? I have had many head injuries while drunk - it makes me wonder why I'm still here? I had 16 bumps on my head once - got knocked out several times during a beating when I was about 19 years old. What is it about head injuries that occur while the person is under the influence of alcohol that ends their life? Something I'm wondering about.

The legend of the Barking Banana spider lives on. I told Belinda the other day I saw one on the outside wall of her cottage, but I took a broom and transported it over to my garden. She was so mad at me for not killing it. I don't like killing things unless there's a direct threat to someone or my cat. She was walking around the property all weekend with the garden hose. She got kinda irritated with me when she found out there wasn't such a thing as a Barking Banana Spider. I Googled Barking Spiders and there seems to be such a thing as a Barking Spider which is good because I hear them behind me all the time, it's not just me.
