Affordable Spaying
updated: Feb 29, 2012, 11:27 AM

It's time to spay our bunny! Buellton's Humane Society is no longer doing this -- can anyone recommend another affordable option?

Aiport Animal Hospital may be able to help. They looked after my bunny when he was hit by a bicycle. Good luck and take no notice of the the previous banal post.

Here's a list of recommended vets for bunnies from B.U.N.S.

Replace the (dot)s with a period . You know the drill, right?

Good luck with your bunny. :-))

Dr Rugg at Goleta Valley Animal Hospital is wonderful. She saved our bunny's life last February. B.U.N.S. always has great advice. I am glad to see you are going to have your bunny spayed. It is always a good idea, since it protects them from cancer, as well as putting the hormones in check. All of our rabbits have been either spayed or neutered.

Haskell is amazing as a rabbit vet. But I'd call BUNS (# on main page, towards bottom) for a recommendation to see who they recommend for a budget-concious owner. Also, it is for a spay (female), or neuter (male)? Just asking because you'll want to mention which it is - I know some local vets are better at neutering than spaying.
PS: My bunny was spayed before I adopted her - essentially I got a best friend for 20 bucks, and she had a few hundred dollar procedure just beforehand. I love Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter! And good for you for spaying (or neutering) your pet! They will be much happier & live longer.

BUNS uses Dr. Haskell at Adobe Vet Hospital 682-2555 for *all* their spays & neuters, and other medical issues. I don't work or volunteer for either; I'm just saying. I don't know of any humane society who does rabbits. He's a very good vet.

Oh, about the affordable part... Maybe you can work out a payment plan with Haskell. Definitely call BUNS if you need assistance.
