NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK

Project: Rescue Flight
updated: Feb 25, 2012, 9:15 AM

Project: Rescue Flight is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization that was set up in 2001 for the primary purpose of raising funds for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Departments Aviation Unit.

Since 2001 Project: Rescue Flight has raised $1.8 million dollars and has completely refurbished Copter 3 a 1966 Vietnam era Bell Huey helicopter. Copter 3 has been completely modernized to civilian standards. The aircraft has also been upgraded to become what is known as a "Super Huey". Copter 3 will be used for Search & Rescue, Fire Fighting, Homeland Security, Medical transports and Drug eradication missions.

Project: Rescue Flight is also raising funds for Copter 4 a Twin Engine Huey and is upgrading this aircraft with all modern equipment as well. Copter 4 will be used to perform the same missions as Copter 3 as well as being the primary aircraft for off-shore rescues and Channel Island responses.

Project: Rescue Flight is dedicated to continue fund raising for the purpose of maintaining and equipping the units' aircraft to provide the best service to the citizens of Santa Barbara County.

Project: Rescue Flight also has a Face book page. You can view all aircraft and missions the unit flies. Visit us at www.ProjectRescueFlight.org

To speak to a Board member of Project: Rescue Flight you may call 805-693-9674 for more information about the foundation.
