Scanner Reports 1-30-12
updated: Jan 30, 2012, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Well Hello, it's Monday, the beginning. What the HELL happened to Maxwell House coffee? Are they buying cheaper coffee beans? It used to be the best domestic coffee but now it tastes like freeze dried Cow Chips from Cows grazing in HELL. Ugh! I guess I have to switch to a better brand. Anyone else noticed this about Maxwell House? It's tragic I'm really going to miss my Maxwell House. It's kinda like when Beer went to HELL - it all started tasting the same like scrap. Coors and Miller, were not gone yet but then I had to quit drinking. The cops and firemen were at my house almost every day for one thing or the otter. It was a good thing they never found that otter - no one else would drink with me. PBR that was my favorite beer Red, White, and Blue on a can it was beautiful!

One of my greatest child HOOD memories was busting a seal on a boxcar back in the 70's looking for food, and finding a boxcar filled with cases of PBR Beer. Red, White, and Blue, on a can. Times were good back then a sip of cold beer was like a sip of Heaven. America felt real back then. Vietnam was over our boys came back those who hadn't perished in the useless war. Here we are again another war almost over but times are different; our country feels broken somehow were split.

Times are rough for everyone, wealthy and poor. Many wealthy people are afraid of what might happen while the poor are taking the weight of it all. Every politician is taking advantage of the whole situation making promises they will not keep. Public office has become a position for opportunists, who care more about what they can get than the people they are promising to represent. The police are sworn to "Protect and Serve" us but they are stretched thin, as are other Emergency Responders. So we find ourselves protecting our own and watching out for our neighbors. That is what will save what is left of our country, I think: If we put aside our differences and look out for our neighbors. After all, no matter who we are we are all in this together, like it or not.

Someone posed the question "If you can't trust Doctors and Police around your children, who can you trust?" No one I answered. We really have no choice than to leave our children with others. We take them to Preschool, later on Public School, we hope and pray nothing happens to them while they are there but sometimes it does. We have no choice but to educate our children while they are young. We teach them not to talk to strangers, or go anywhere with strangers. Strangers are not the only people that molest children. You have to be over protective nowadays if you want to be a hundred percent sure your child will be safe. I'll tell you one thing though, a call comes over the scanner involving a child our cops drop whatever they are doing and respond right away. Educate your children young is your best bet in keeping them safe. But you really cannot trust anyone alone with your child.

I heard a call on Saturday Evening made me cry this fella shot himself in the head, dead. He lived in a motorhome near the rail road tracks. He left his dog there without anywhere to go, poor thing; it just broke my old heart to hear that. Animals have feelings too - they ain't just here to serve us. I don't advocate suicide but if you're going to take your own life, please make sure your 4 legged loved ones have a place to go. I was going to say furry loved ones but...Anyway take care of the animals. They did not do nothing wrong to you they love us unconditionally. If anyone did you wrong and you're going to waste yourself, you did yourself wrong. Unless of course you have a disease that is horribly painful and you feel there is no way out. Even then please make sure your animal is going to be taken care of. I don't know what happened to that dog Saturday night heard police request Animal Control but I think they cancelled the call I'm not sure. Either way more than likely they would put down the dog it's a pit bull. I've been hearing some not so good things about our Animal Shelter and pit bulls. This dog sounded mellow - I hope the pup is ok.

One more thing: Word on the Street is that the stabbing victim from the East Beach Bath House stabbing Saturday night is alive and resting over at Cottage Hospital. The man who stabbed him has been arrested and is in Santa Barbara County Jail.
