Cloud Eclipse

Weirdest circular white cloud with dark center covered the moon the same way an eclipse does! I was watching it for about twenty minutes till it completely engulfed the moons light. The strange thing about the cloud was that in the middle was a perfect dark circle that blanked out everything in its path. It was the only cloud visible in the sky as well not another in sight! Anyone know what type of cloud this could be? Or what was it?

With the wind conditions, there were lenticular clouds around. That's my guess.

As Chuck MacPuzl points out, that is a lenticular cloud. Most likely an ACSL (altocumulus standing lenticularis). If the sun hits it at the right angle you get this sort of iridescence, or "irisation". The colors tend to run together a lot more than a rainbow.

Sounds like it is likely related to the numerous chemtrails that have been sprayed recently. It seems they have been focusing on spraying in our area, not exactly sure why. These trails affect the weather including nearby clouds as well as your health. What are they spraying?

I am Irish so believe it is my Grandfather smiling down upon me bringing me good luck. Realistically don't know a name, but they sure are beautiful and makes this time of year enjoyable.

Without a photo or a better description we are stuck guessing. There are some helpful websites I use for reference. http:// www. atoptics. co. uk/ is one of the best, as is http:// epod. usra. edu/ (close up the spaces to make the URLs work)

Yes there have been lenticular clouds in recent days. I think I read that it indicates rapidly moving air masses. It makes sense. We saw that same cloud last night and it looked like a giant smoke ring at first glance. The outer rim of the round cloud was illuminated and very cool. I have never seen anything like it.

@252046 Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. There are no chemtrails, and they certainly aren't related to this cloud.
