Above Ground Spas
updated: Jan 11, 2012, 9:48 PM

Need a referral for a hot tub dealer for an above-ground spa. Ours is 20+ years old and has too many problems to be worth fixing. Google lists Spa Tropics, Hot Spring Portable Spas, Gordon & Grant, and some places that probably only do pool/spa service. Recommendations?

I did quite a bit of reasearch before buying our spa last year; Gordon and Grant excelled in customer service, price, and quality/length of warranty.

Gordon & Grant. We shopped around for months and nobody else came close. Great after-sale customer service too. Highly recommend.

Gordon & Grant is by far the best in SB. The carry top quality spas and have everything from inexpensive as spas go to full on over the top luxurious ones, customer service is great too.

My mom is selling a used spa, but in nearly new condition. Look for my craigslist as later today.

Get a Sundance Spa, no question the best spas available on the market. Powerful, soothing jets and a state of the art water purification system. I'm getting in mine right now.....AHHHHHHHHH YAAAAAA....That's what i'm talkin' about!

Hot Springs Spas are top quality. Ours is going on 17 yrs, has had one pump replaced under warranty. The cover needs replacing about every 5 years. Other than that, just daily maintenance of water and occasional tub drain and baking soda scrub are all that is necessary. Many sizes and seat configurations available. The moto-massage is incredible.

Avoid tub brands that have bubble ports in the seats, because of possible lamination separation issues.

Spa Tropics in Goleta. They've been in business since the early 80's, selling Sundance Spas. We are on our 2nd spa from them. Bought the first Sundance Spa in 1984 and it lasted almost 20 years, virtually maintenance free.

I love gordon & grant's customer service, but the Dimension I spa I bought there 10 years ago has needed the controller replaced 4 times and it's about a $400 job. I would definitely research to find a better repair record. Gordon & Grant carry other lines.

Think about a fully enclosed gazebo. They save about half on heating costs (which adds up), and keep UV off your spa cover and keep a lot of dirt out. Makes it more private too.
