By Roger the Scanner Guy
Well FRYday already here. Funny how the holidays do that to ya. I was reading Ken Williams column the other day on Noozhawk and I was really shocked that, that fella Stephen that died near the shelter a couple weeks ago had no alcohol in his system. I totally thought that he did. I read where he was given a warm shower to warm him from the cold. I totally assumed that he had alcohol in his body and the warm shower gave him a heart attack. Some people die that way from having a warm shower or bath after drinking alcohol. Even people that are not homeless die that way. The guy had no alcohol in his system so now I'm wondering how he passed away? I heard the police officer on the scanner looking for a place for the man to sleep. The Cacique Street Shelter was the last possibility but the man collapsed outside of the shelter and passed away soon after. I don't know what happened but I heard the police officer trying to find a place for the man to go. It wasn't the kinda thing where the cop was trying to dump the guy; he was sincere in trying to find the guy a place to go that police officer has a good heart. I'm curious about how the guy passed away though and will be for some time, I'm sure.
Well, we're always going back and forth with bad drivers, which usually end up in bad bicyclists, and bad Peds somewhere in there people quit playing nice. I really don't know what to say about drivers anymore but what makes my day is when I see the police officer in the 200 Block of South Milpas going after those idiots that U-Turn at Cacique and Milpas usually barely taking out Peds, bicyclists, other motorized vehicles in the process. I believe if their mother was standing in the intersection, these drivers would run the old gal down because they care for no one but themselves. How selfish can someone be to use their vehicle to intimidate people out of their way? There are also the illegal turners going into 211 South Milpas that go South into the Northbound turning lane at Cacique. I believe it's a miracle that there are not more smash-ups there. Bad drivers are just another thing our city has to deal with and it's getting worse. I'm not saying bicyclists and Peds are blameless but they don't have a ton of steel wrapped around them either. There are some motorists that stop but the majority don't.
Just because I did not do it this time does not mean I'm going to stop. I'm just performing a little experiment and I wholefartedly believe that I will be right in my assumption. I'm not sharing that assumption with you guys just in case I am wrong so you can say "I told you so."
