Aloha From the Island State
updated: Dec 31, 2011, 9:45 AM

My family and I were lucky enough to spend the holidays on the island of Kauai. There were 11 of us total, and none of us had ever been the aloha state, so you can imagine how awe struck we were by the island's beauty.

Here are some photos from our trip. Since we brought a little bit of Edhat with us, we thought it was appropriate to bring a little bit of Hawaii back to Edhat. Enjoy!

The Bagflag was perfect for transporting snorkel gear!

Waimea Canyon

I saw this sculpture at a luau we went to. It's pretty reminiscent of the ones you'd find on Easter Island.

If you're ever in Kauai and you're into hiking, I highly recommend the Hanakapiai Falls hike (part of the Kalalau Trail). It's long but so gorgeous. It's goes along the Na Pali Coast and ends at a beautiful waterfall.

The Na Pali Coastline

Like I said, it's long. Here's one of our hikers at the halfway point.

And if you go in the winter time, it can be pretty muddy.

We made sure to support Ed along the way.

Here's more of the Na Pali Coast. A lot of scenes in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 were filmed here.

A well deserved reward at the end of the trail.

There's a swimming hole under the waterfall, but the water is freezing. I chickened out, but my brothers were brave enough to bare the cold.
