Personaly I can't afford Monticito but I had the most amazing dish at a Thai resturant in Carp. It may have been called the Siam Elephant? (Something like that), they have pumpkin curry dish that was so good!!! I got into a conversation with two other tables that had ordered the same and we all were raving. Thinking about it is making my mouth water now....

if you want a great Thai veggie dish, just ask for your favorite flavor (Ginger, Basil, etc), and ask for "extra Veggies" you will pay a buck or two more but get whatever is in the kitchen for all the featured regular dishes (ie much more variety than normally would be served). This is now my order: "Basil with chicken, brown rice, medium spicy, extra veg." Then send your compliments to the kitchen so they know you enjoyed it.

Zookers in Carp has some *great* salads- their roasted veggie plate with goat cheese is amazing- and a fantastic eggplant parm. I also like their tofu saute.

If you are chi-chi, stay on CVR, otherwise go with the staple, the oldest and best: Sojourner Cafe. P.S. Service is better if you wear birkenstocks.

Lucky's always has these ads with local restaurant patrons with a massive piece of dead cow on their plate. Now that's the healthy lifestyle we all aspire to - it looks like a still photo from Mad Men in 1962 - do people still eat this junk? Well judging from the mass obesity, heart disease, and diabetes pervading our country - I guess they still do.

I second the Siam Elephant and Zookers in Carp. It's so nice to eat in Carp - you feel like you're on vacation but your only 10 minutes out of town.
