Scanner Reports 12-21-11
updated: Dec 21, 2011, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Well it's Wednesday, the Home stretch almost there... 3 or 4 Shoplifting Daze left till Christmas. The sun is out and I'm freezing. Sitting here with Pooh Bear the Super Cat who would scratch my eyes out just to escape his prison called recovery, No pun intended. The poor fella has been caged over 2 weeks with the cone on his head. I'm sittin' right here with him don't leave him alone too long - can't. Thank You for all of your cards and notes all of which are around his cage. Someone sent Santa Claus flying in an airplane and suggested it might be John Wiley. He flies over this area so much Pooh Bear probably knows him.

Bummer. The last time I took Pooh over to the vet like 20 minutes ago the doctor basically said no sun. The Sun is Pooh Bear's drug of choice - be really hard to break him of it I don't want to.

Belinda my Ballistic friend ran into a fella at the Bus Stop on Milpas near Trader Joes who had a cat on a leash. The cat, he said, had been run over by a vehicle and was injured. He told Belinda that the cat's paws were crushed and the cat was in horrible pain. The cat was a full grown Johnny Cat, and the guy was homeless - does anyone know them? I always have a little extra kitty food in case there are homeless kitties around. Anyway Belinda said the poor kitty just sat there with its eyes closed the whole time.

Speaking of thee Ballistic one, she has a mouse in her house - cute furry little thing she really wants to get rid of. She says it's eating her GrandFather Clock. Do mice eat wood? If I was a mouse that is the last thing I wood eat. I could think of many otter things to eat otter than a boring old clock. She is frustrated with the little booger that runs past her feet as she stands in the kitchen unaware of its presence. I think it wants to be her friend. She has like 4 of those low frequency electronic noise thingies that are supposed to rid one's homes of rodents. It doesn't work on this one mouse. But she says that she can hear the sound from those things and it drives her friggin' crazy. I guess those things work in a way, maybe I should get a couple.

The other evening someone called in a rape in progress in the area of the 400 Block of Bath Street. When the police got to the area, they found nothing. I waited for a while in case I would hear something, but there was nothing more so I crashed out. (Actually there is a registered sex offender living in the 400 Block of Bath Street.) Anyway, I like to tell people to be careful. There was a thread not too long ago where someone said they were accosted off Milpas. It seemed like a fake thread because of no real documentation other than an article from an online British tabloid. It's not like bad things don't happen here. I like to joke because the papers nor the TV News report everything that goes on here, in fact they report hardly anything except for something that may have been witnessed by others. Thing is we gotta watch out for ourselves, our families, loved ones and friends, because the people that are supposed to be doing it are not - at least not like we expect them to.

I wish there was more accountability, like when someone is arrested, are they going to be cited and released? Or taken to jail at least for the night. I'd like to know if I should keep my Alley Phant gun out. The other thing is, it seems like criminals get shorter sentences now - even for murder. Someone not too long ago got 3 years' probation for driving the getaway car. Who is benefiting from our so-called justice of today? SNOT the victim; maybe the courts and all others working within the Business of Justice, the victim gets the shaft. So in the words of the Late Great Michael Conrad, Lets be careful out there!

Scanner Reports, Monday:

  • 18 West Canon Perdido 25 year old WMA yelling at people.

  • City Lot 2 900 Chapala 594 Vandalism to thee elevator doors.
  • Roommates arguing all night long sounded like the 300 Block of North La Cumbre. What in the HELL is going on over there on North La Cumbre? It sounds like people are afraid to leave their homes. Are there some real crime problems going on over there we all should know about? If we can't do anything else maybe we can expose the violators anonymously in a way.

  • 415 At the Cacique Street Shelter 816 Cacique.
  • As I was drifting off there was some sort of weird disturbance at the Bacara. First a report that a security guard was run over then someone said he wasn't hurt. Someone said something about a broken car window...

HELL I Don't know It reminded me of the times girl friends have tried to kill me in their cars...Once I got hit and dragged about 20 feet through sticker bushes, Boy! That really hurt. Another time I got hit full force by a 73 Ford LTD with a luggage rack 27 feet long I went through it all. Another time I was riding with this Peace lovin' hippie woman older than I whom wanted my hands in marriage and a few otter thangs. I was a little younger not old enough to buy beer she bought it for me. In fact a 12 pack a day and 2 packs of Marlboro red. Anyway I said I wouldn't marry her so she smashed into a telephone pole on my side of the van. Really tore me up I went through the windshield of the purple VW van with painted pink peace signs all over it. I sort of fell out she was trying to start the van and run me over I was trying to save the 12-pack. I got hit by a truck too but you couldn't tell by looking at me.

    Scanner Reports, Tuesday:

  • A woman reported her tan Chevy Suburban stolen from the Amtrak station this morning as she was following it in a white Nissan. Each turn they took she followed along reporting it to local police. The tan Suburban pulled into Mc Cormick's gas where it was met by several Santa Barbara police cars. They told police that they were auto detailers picking up the vehicle to detail, and I think they really were.
  • 700 West Figueroa 459 Burglary to a vehicle.
  • Medical Emergency for a 17 year old fall victim at Skaters Point.
  • Over Dose somewhere in town couldn't quite catch the name of the street.
  • At Oliver and Edgewater near the cliffs a woman distraught Cares was called and gave an estimated time of arrival ETA 1 to 2 hours I guess they are busy this time of year they should hire seasonable help.
  • A white Dodge van being reported as Suspicious on the 600 Block of Stow Canyon Road.
  • Probation was looking for a wanted probationer in the 1000 Block of Olive around the time someone heard someone trying to climb into their window in that same block.
  • A shot and a scream heard in the 2900 Block of Deer Trail.
  • Check the Welfare of the retired Santa Claus walking around Market Place looking disoriented approx. 80 years old. He must be thinkin' of what to get for the wife. You know some of those older folks have more on the ball then youngsters thank! I mean think!
  • A couple suspicious looking guys on Broodmar Plaza I just heard "Hoodies" I got one of those too - guess I better not wear it in public the police will think I'm in some type of Santa Claus Gang Type I'll go to jail.
  • 900 West Micheltorena 459 Burglary to a vehicle.
  • 459 Burglary to a garage 200 Block of Reef Court someone ripped off a powder blue ladies Trek bicycle probably to give to their daughter for Christmas.

I saw that comment made by someone about MUG SHOTS for DUI OFFENDERS I'm all for that it would probably cut down on our population of DUI OFFENDERS..I think they should also have to do community service in the morgue.

  • I just heard a serial number go out for a bicycle and it didn't sound like a Trek. Hold onto your bicycles people!
  • During the Afternoon a suspect was observed breaking into a car at the Family Service Agency he got away before police arrived.
  • There was a 459 Burglary investigation in the 2600 Block of State Street.
  • Two 14 year old Shoplifters being sought by police from the 100 Block of West Carrillo Ralphs.
  • I know why the serial number that was just run did not sound like the Trek Bicycle, because it was a gun, a rifle was also taken besides the woman's Trek bicycle. I don't want to hear how many people out there keep their guns in their garage unless their garage is locked down like Fort Knox.
  • There was another Overdose this time in the 400 Block of APS. I'm depressed too but I don't want to go yet.

Anyway I'm gonna stop here and watch a nice movie on Netflix while monitoring the Scanner. Have a great Wednesday, and Dog Willing, me and Pooh Bear will see you on FRYday...Roger
