One Amazing Tree
updated: Dec 17, 2011, 9:30 AM
By the Urban Hikers, Peter Hartmann & Stacey Wright
At the risk of being put on Santa's naughty list, we thought we'd show you a really
amusing tree we've discovered during our urban hiking. By now we've traversed about
98% of the streets within the city limits of Santa Barbara, and there's one tree that
stands out above all others. We're not arborists, but we guess this tree is about 60
years old. We would have loved to see her about 40 years ago when she was most
likely a little bit perkier...

We found this beauty on one of the city streets above Foothill Road. Imagine the
homeowners' pride as they are greeted by it upon returning home after a long day at the
office! Indeed, it graces the front entrance of a very lovely home.
While we're tempted to reveal the exact location of this very natural-looking tree, we
fear that in doing so the neighborhood would become overrun with lookie-loos...if you
wish to see this tree in all its glory you'll need to put a little effort into finding it. Like us,
we think you'll get a giggle out of this natural wonder.
As always, we encourage you to go out and explore the city, meet your neighbors, keep
your eyes, ears and minds open to all that you encounter, and above all, expect the
unexpected.
