Scanner Report 11/25/11
updated: Nov 25, 2011, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Well, I hope you guys had as good as a Spanksgiving as I had. I'm still full and not just of Hooey. Wow - gotta let the belt out a few feet! Even Pooh Bear gobbled up some turkey. Ballistic Belinda, you learn to wait patiently when shes got a butcher knife in her hand. This feast was bought to us by the lovely Laura Miller, who slaved on turkey and all the trimmings on her day off from Cottage Hospital. Very nice of her to cook dinner for a few of her neighbors on Thanksgiving Day.

It's too bad "G" could not be here with us to enjoy a holiday meal "G" is the woman that died last week in the Quarantina Street Fire. In the small article in the Independent, they mentioned that the other person there suffered burns on 25 percent of his body not the 65 to 85 percent a commenter claimed on Edhat. The burns he has being mostly on his hands and feet, and she was found under a debris pile? Yet the morning after while observing the property mostly burned I noticed a pink slipper that was not burned at all. I'm sure the real journalist from the News Press saw it too. She mentioned it in her article. It's not there anymore, but most likely in the bottom of the dumpster sitting in the driveway.

It's too bad the powers that be don't value everyone's life as valuable in Santa Barbara when they are poor, or homeless. Everyone's life is valuable. The more I ask around the more I hear what a nice lady "G" was. Some people are nice even if they are homeless.

I get a kick and a little resentment out of those few people that find it necessary to criticize our Emergency Responders for sending a lot of equipment for rescues. How many firemen does it take to get a guy out of a tree? I don't know I guess one might have to consider the circumstances. Man upside down in tree 30 feet being held by co-worker or a harness, suffering electrical burns 3rd and 4th degree. Ladder still near tree wires nearby man semi-conscious with three finger tips blown off there's a lot of circumstances there. I'm sure if the criticizer was in the man's position he would not be complaining how many fire men and trucks were there to save his carcass.

But as we all know, the rest of us don't count to those who complain about our Emergency Responders. Our Emergency Responders are skilled enough to know how many firemen it would take to help save a man's life. After all they are trained for it. When they are not out helping to save lives one could usually find them at the Fire Tower training.
