Scanner Report 11/18/11

By Roger the Scanner Guy
Well you have made it to Fryday. Good for you. I am, on the other hand, in a really bad mood. I can't quite put a finger on it. Maybe it's because I'm still feeling scrappy I'm just SNOT sure.
I see where the MCA is concerned for pedestrian safety. Well that's a good thing. Another unsafe crossing is Cacique and Milpas, but I don't hear any discussion about that. Probably because many people that cross at that intersection are homeless, and not many people care about the homeless. In fact some are actually happy when a homeless person gets hit or rundown by a vehicle. I recall many years ago a Hispanic man on a bicycle getting hit by a tree trimming truck at Cacique and Milpas. While the man lay bleeding in the street, the driver got out of his truck and said, "What's the problem it's only a Mexican." Famous last words for his job. The statement cost his company 80,000.00 in settlement money.
I'm not blaming the MCA for the safety issue there at Cacique and Milpas. The MCA has done a lot for Milpas and the Eastside thus far. I'm sure they are not done, not by a longshot. There is really not a lot that can be done for the intersection until the construction is complete in this area. Even then the best thing that can be done is motorists can slow down and yield to pedestrians. Not many do.
I'm feeling better now. Maybe I just needed to get that out. What is it going to take to just stop and let someone cross the street? If you left the last place you were with plenty of time to get to your next destination you should not be late. If you speed, not pay attention to what you're doing, not yield to people in crosswalks, sooner or later you are going to hit something or someone. If you have feelings, or emotions you're going to feel like HELL for a long time if you run someone over. I say "If" because some people around here seem to not have feelings. Nothing more than feelings or emotions around here, ya know?
I totally missed the Bank Robbery this morning. I shut the Scanner off - I don't know why. Maybe the decision came from my subconscious, maybe someone else was supposed to break the story. Lord thy Dog knows they have many more resources I'm just an old flunky with a couple scanners, and a computer. Of course I don't get 6 Martini Lunches that go from 10am to 2pm. I know what it's all about. I used to work a steady job in Santa Barbara too. I hope I rattle nerves when I refer to professional
journalists as drunks because sometimes they break the news. Most times they don't but they should.
That is how Roger came about. People were getting sick of not knowing what the HELL is going on in Santa Barbara. Now I stink it's the otter way around. Now many people don't want to know. Maybe that is why the news has been the way it is all these years. Although the TV news did excellent coverage during the Painted Cave fire, they did not cover the more recent fires so good at least not like the Painted Cave Fire. They Rocked then and no doubt saved lives, no doubt.
Of course they are not the only people guilty of not wanting to work all the time. I conned Shakey into washing my walls, today I just sat here and totally watched him scrub the walls and ceiling. For all the work he did he got two pastries and a small cup of coffee. Tomorrow I'll get him three pastries and a large cup of coffee while I enjoy my six pastry lunch. I'm not a hypocrite, much.
