Alan Parsons Live Project Report
updated: Nov 15, 2011, 1:08 PM

By Robert Bernstein

This past Saturday Alan Parsons and his Alan Parsons Live Project performed a fundraiser concert at the Lobero Theater to benefit the United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County.

He also performed with opening act David Pack of Ambrosia.

The Alan Parsons Project generally did not do live tours in their original incarnation from 1975 to 1990. Alan Parsons started out working with the Beatles at Abbey Road engineering their albums. He is a writer and a producer and a creator of the Alan Parsons Project concept. But prefers not to be in front as a lead vocalist or musician.

So, it was a treat to have this now-local musician come forward and appear in person for a live performance! And even an occasional lead performance!

The band played many of their top hits along with lesser known pieces requested by their fans. They played two sets of almost an hour each.

The first set included: Damned If I Do Don't Answer Me Breakdown Time (Goodbye... on to the sea) Oh Life (There Must Be More) I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You Don't Let It Show

The second set included a long set from his album "The Turn of a Friendly Card" which he said his fans have requested be included in his new greatest hits album This set also included Prime Time Eye in the Sky Old and Wise Games People Play

At the end, there was also a quick auction for the "Eye in the Sky" hanging at the rear of the stage which raised another $1,500 for the United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County.

It was an enjoyable and rewarding evening for all!

A great show, indeed! His lead guitarist for the past couple of years is local great Alastair Greene, who stole the show on several occasions. One of the very best shows in town this year.
