Barry the Bat
updated: Oct 29, 2011, 9:45 AM

By Bud Stuart

Barry the bat Lived in Rocky Flat,
In the tower of the Methodist church.
It's an Ozark town,
Mountains all around,
And the steeple made a wonderful perch.
He would fly all night,
With a bite, bite, bite,
Til' his tummy was as full as a tick.
Then he'd sleep all day,
‘Cause that's the batty way,
But it really wasn't much of a schtick.

I need more than this is
He said to his Missus,
My life is just not enough smiles.
I need to find a gig,
Something really big,
To give myself a little more style.
So he searched around
And right there in town,
There was a Halloween jubilee.
They said they had a need
That was just his speed,
For a dose of authenticity.

So he sped on back
To his steeple shack,
And got his relatives by the score.
Now in Rocky Flat,
If Halloween you're at,
It's wall to wall bats and more.
So each and every year,
For a really good sceer,
They call for Barry and his company.
For any ole bat,
At the drop of a hat,
Can scare the daylights out of all of us you see.

Happy Halloween!!
