Recycled X-mas/Holiday Cards
updated: Oct 28, 2011, 3:21 PM

I have a lot of Christmas/holiday cards which I received last year. I hate to throw out them out, and wondered if there is a group in Santa Barbara/Goleta, who might like to have the unmarked front covers of these cards for art work, etc. With the holidays approaching, people are probably beginning projects using old cards.

Actually by recycling them you should just cross out the names etc from the people you got them from, and reuse them this year. It's coming up quick :)

Just reuse the front covers as Christmas "post" cards, but make sure you note who sent what last year so that they don't get their own card back. Oh, and I think postcards are cheaper to mail so it's a double savings.

Every year I send mine to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude's St., Boulder City NV 89005. The children reuse the pictures to make new cards. They sell these to raise money for the ranch. Yes, it does cost $3 or $4; but it's for a good cause.

Hey folks, if you have items like this please keep Art From Scrap in mind! The children in particular like to create masterpieces from this type of "trash".

I would recommend offering them to the Activity Directors of local rest homes. They often have special creative and imaginative crafts to fill the lonely hours for folks who live in those facilities.

Poster, It's really kind of you to look for a home for your cards. Reminds me not to throw mine away, always seems such a waste of beautiful cards. I'm going to go for Art From Scraps, although I like the nursing home idea too. Thanks for bringing up the subject.
