Anyone know where I can get free boxes, so I can donate household items and books to the thrift store?

Trader Joe's on DLV. Best to call first and arrive early AM.
(You also beat all those much-discussed parking issues.)

Mammoth Movers on Los Carneros Road, south of Hollister, in Goleta has free used boxes in a shed in their parking lot.

Ask a produce dept. (apple boxes are very strong & clean.) But you need to give them a heads up, before they flatten them.

I got plenty of boxes from Alpha Thrift on Hollister in Goleta. Just have to get there before they break them down. They were very helpful and will let you know when they will have more.

We throw away wine boxes all the time. Stop by East Beach Wine Company, downtown in the La Arcada Court. We would be happy to give them to you rather than break them down and take out to the recycle.
Thanks

Lots of good ideas for the movers. Just shows it's good to ask the Edhat community for help.

You can have your pick of all sizes of boxes if you make the effort to get to Ralph's grocery stores Friday mornings by 6 a.m. By 7 am all the boxes have been flattened. And it's fun to see the speedy re-stocking of shelves in action! This probably happens at all of the grocery stores, so check with store managers to find the opportune time. Some of the mgrs. will save boxes for their customers.

I like liquor store boxes for heavy books. Drop by or call ahead and they'll save them for you.
