Custom Alarm is great. Locally owned, which is very important. The owner himself often responds to calls. We had various bad experiences with out-of-town companies. Never use Protection One.

the LOCAL ADT, not one of their licensed dealers, but the actual ADT is great. They have a new system called PULSE and it connects to your iPhone and allows you to operate the system remotely, turn on and off your AC or heater, check video cameras, and turn lights off and on while away. They can install glass break sensors, smoke alarms and door and window alarms. If someone breaks in, the video cameras take video clips and it sends a text to your phone. Great system.
