Cox E-mail Not Working
updated: Sep 29, 2011, 9:05 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

Am I the only one that can not get into my Cox e-mail account this morning? I am near Lake Las Carneros. I can't get in either through my Windows Mail or through the Cox website.

I can't either. I guess their new phones are working but not the internet. I have this problem a lot. What's up Cox?

try unplugging your cable modem and your router. wait 5+ seconds. then plug the modem in first, then the router, you'll see if any/some/all the lights come up. Usually works with me, and cox is working fine in Mission area.

working for me but their internet speeds have become way less consistent. Only happening for certain applications on my end it seems like they are throttling Netflix use. I hate this monopoly, anyone know what exactly we gained as a City by agreeing to one cable provider?

I'm having issues also. Have a ticket open but Customer Service doesn't seem to know that this is a bigger issue. Thanks Edhat.

Switch to gmail. You can forward your cox email to the new gmail account. You won't regret it.

Thank you for the suggestion 249 - unfortunately it did not work and it appears that others are having the problem - but indeed it is very helpful to have Edhat to communicate with one another on things like this.

It's not just a router or email system issue, the cox supported connections are really slow and freaking out a bit this morning.

Not having any problems in the Turnpike area.

261 - thank you for that suggestion.

Questions - if Cox is not working either directly through my normal e-mail system (Windows Mail) nor through the Cox website - do you believe that your suggestion will still work?

Can I cancel my Cox all together and still have them forward to my gMail account (which I already have)?

No problem here. I access mine from https://webmail.west.cox.net/.

Outlook could not access my e-mail account (I'm on the mesa).
The normal Cox login page returned a 'server taking too long to respond' message.

Using Highlander's link I was able to log in to my Cox e-mail.

We are having problems in both of our offices, Funk Zone and Upper State. Incoming is OK, outbound is hung up.

I got "Page Not Available" with Highlander link - the same as I got after I get into the Cox.net website and from there put in my account id and password and tried to get to my e-mail that way.

I'm in Mission Canyon. Cox email is coming in fine but I cannot reply to my inbox mail or send out new messages. Yahoo mail is working fine.

What a pain!

No luck with the link or anything else. Westside. I'm using gmail this morning.

Web mail works from my office in Goleta, but did not work from my home on the Mesa. Perhaps this problem is location dependent?

Thanks for posting this. I didn't realize I wasn't getting my email until I checked my iPhone and found a bunch that haven't shown up on my computer. Yet another Cox fail.

I also can't connect to the Cox mail servers through Outlook. I'm near Magnolia shopping center.

I have a mac, and while I don't use Cox email, my cox connection is a bit strange this morning. Only about half of the sites I've looked up will load. This has happened before, and it's usually a cox issue.

I'm in Carp.

I just got my backlog of e-mails through my normal Windows Mail. There were 17 e-mails and they were sent after 4 AM

I had no problems with my email. I had some site loading issues at home and now at work. We are not using COX at work so maybe another factor is in play.

Cox is working on their lines all over town. I've seen their cherry pickers in our neighborhood for weeks. Perhaps they are beefing up their lines in preparation for competition with Verizon FIOS?

My cox.net not working early this a..m, came on about 6:30. Other internet apps were fine, so it wasn't the whole cable that was out. --McMesa

Early this morning I had the same problem as 289P in Carp. Only about half the sites loaded. For the past week I've also had problems with streaming video in the afternoon.

Big lesson here. I just spent a frustrating 45 minutes trying to troubleshoot stuff on my laptop, figuring I'd screwed up something. Even sent an email to a tech friend. Now I know. First thing to do is check Edhat. Thanks, Edhatters.

My cox connection drops in Carp every night at 10:00 p.m. Like clockwork. It also does that on the weekends periodically from 2-4 p.m. Cox refuses to acknowledge it despite the fact that most of my neighborhood has called it in as an issue.

Today, we seemed to have a similar issue with certain sites not loading fully, while others were completely accessible. They won't admit this is problem either.

To me, the idea that they can have a monopoly like this and we have no choice while they don't admit or address issues and problems is untenable.

Cox Internet access has been spotty for a few days here, very near to downtown. I called for tech support. They hung up on me twice, called back once to try to sell me more services. Hung up on me again when I told them I wasn't buying anything more from them until they could provide the service I was already paying for.

I have seen the trucks in the neighborhood here as well. Let's hope they get it running well again soon.

Meanwhile, what about AT&T or Verizon? When will those internet provider services be available?
