I've used Bob Kitson of Kitson Insurance for the past 20+ years. (805) 964-6906. He's become more like a friend.

I second AAA. Our agent there is Curtis Ronci. He gives us immediate answers to questions, even on the weekend. When we had the need, AAA was there for us, without hesitation or hemming & hawing. It's the difference between an insurance company owned by shareholders and driven by profits and a membership company like AAA, which driven by the concept of mutual aid and assurance.

I'm with State Farm and my agent is John Buzcek. His office is very responsive to my questions, and I am sufficiently satisfied with the service to recommend him.

What type of business do you have? Hub has 'program' business and has the best prices and, depending on who it's assigned to, great customer service.

Second the recommendation for Baxter Insurance. I tend to hate insurance and insurance agents, but those guys are VERY helpful, have saved me money on auto & home policies and ALWAYS get back to me right away if I call or e-mail them for something.

For my personal business, I worked with David Groom's office (Farmer's Insurance). In a previous job, I was TRYING to work with Brown and Brown and they were terrible. I had to harass the agent to respond at every point just to get a quote. Once quoted, information was incorrect and inconsistent. I hate bad mounting but it was truly horrendous service so we clearly didn't end up using them.

I'll second the recommendation of David Groom and Farmers. He has been our agent for over 20 years for auto, homeowners, and a general liability umbrella policy. He really knows his stuff and has a great staff.

Receptionist/phone-answerer at Hub downtown is rude, rude, rude and disinterested - acts like customers are a major pain and she has better things to do.
