Audi Repair
updated: Sep 08, 2011, 12:05 PM

The driver's side window in my Audi A3 is broken and won't roll up or down. Can anyone recommend a repair shop?

Window problems are fairly common in the A3s. Sometimes it's the motor, but more often it's the retaining clips. I don't have any shops to refer you to, but I might be able to help. (805) 637-6674

HP Autowerks - 966-3200 (they work on German cars)

We have a Passat with the same mechanism as the Audi and have had 3 of the 4 windows go out. All were the retention clips. The back windows are potentially cheap ($5 for the pins). The fronts are either a pain to rebuild or not cheap to replace the whole regulator ($150) for the part. Google it and you can find the step-by-step repair process if you'd like to try it yourself.

Same as 212310. Please give me a call, I can repair it or otherwise help. Fixed several of them lately on various Mercedes. It is a three part process. First one must open the door panel simply to gain access to the problem, next fix the problem with the window "regulator", then test and reassemble everything. 805.565.0659
