Window Tinting Referral
updated: Sep 08, 2011, 2:22 PM
I need to have my car windows tinted. Can anyone recommend a reasonable, reliable business in the area, including Ventura, if necessary?

In downtown Goleta there is a guy (I can't remember his business's name) who shares Lombard's parking lot (5841 Hollister) - he uses 3M products. I had my windows tinted there in 2004 and the tint still looks great.

Best guy in town is Jaime! I've taken my truck, my wifes car and my mother-in-laws car to him. You can tell that he cares about his work. Here are his details-Tint Works Window Tinting Jaime Viramontes 232 S. Fairview Ave 805-679-1096 He even let me borrow his car to pick up my kids at school...now that is a nice guy!

If you just want the windows to look dark, that is different from reducing the sun rays from heating the car. I have done both. I purchased 3M film both times. The first time worked great. If was from a 3M distributor that did homes and cars. I was working at Lancaster and it made a lot of difference. The second time was from a Car Tint company. They used a different film that did not help with heating. This was a "High Performance" film, which probably means High Profit. I should have known better.

Just remember to check the level of tinting compared to the legal level. Just because they say it's allowed doesn't always mean it is and you're the one that gets stuck with the ticket.

Be careful not to use metallic coating if one of the radio antennas is in the window. BMW recommends only ceramic (non-metallic) coatings but I have a friend whose radio reception was ruined by a BMW dealer who put on aftermarket metallic coatings.

I second Jaime at Tint Works on Fairview just south of Hollister behind the palm reader. Not sure if he still does this but he came to my place of business and did it in the parking lot. May come to your house too. Very reasonably priced and quality job. Took about 2 hours.

Cal Coast Tinting! Great guys, quick and high quality. My battery died after taking my car there for window tinting. Regardless if it was a result of the engine being on while the car was there or just a fluke, they came to where I was the next day and jumpstarted my car.

I too am with 359 and 404. I had my car windows done in the "Lexus" tint in 2005 and they still look great. I hope the business is still on Hollister.
