A friend of mine is moving into the rancho oso campground and has had no luck with cell or internet service providers. Anyone know of a way to fix that?

We are with Verizon and have never gotten any service there. I wonder if a sat phone would be the answer. We've thought about them as a family in case of emergency but don't know much about them.

I was just looking up cell phone boosters/repeaters for a customer - I wonder if anyone has a recommendation for one of those that would work for your friend's situation? I haven't really learned enough about them to suggest a specific brand/model yet but it might be a solution.

AT&T only worked by the pool when I was there a couple weeks ago .

If you go to the oak tree by the parking lot by the pool you can get service there. Serious that is a sweet spot, but maychange with weather conditions

Sorry I should be more specific. If you are going down the path from the pool to the parking lot the oak tree on the right about half way down. Also sometimes by the stables

AT&T works for me on Paradise Rd. As 763 noted -Rincon Broadbard is an excellect internet provider in the area.

"Moving into" a campground? Don't you mean "visiting" or "camping"? I'm not sure one "moves into" a campground... Oh, maybe as a Host?

Ranco Oso has free wi-fi in their community center/lodge. They are the only campground in Los Padres to offer it (because they are a private business!)

Good luck with that one! Verizon works intermittently up there, and not at all once you pass the Ranger station. AT&T gets better service, but again, once you pass the Ranger station it goes out. As for internet, if the Ranch has free wifi then that is probably their best bet (or offer to share with a neighbor). I think the only providers are Dish Network and Rincon as far as that, and wow the price!! They are both pricey. Good luck!! Enjoy the woods though!

T mobile works very well for my friend in rural parts of the gaviota coast where my AT&T is dead, I'd give them a try.
