Lazy Acres has them hot and fresh every morning. They are the best I've found in town.

I can't afford the calories in them anymore but whatever the restaurant was before it became an IHop on State Street had wonderful cinnamon rolls.

Spudnuts on Carrillo. The one on State wasn't that good, haven't tried the new one on Hollister in Old Town Goleta yet.

The small business that sells the really good cinnamon rolls that you can get at the county fairs is Old West Cinnamon rolls. They aren't in town so this doesn't really address your question, but they aren't that far away at 861 Dolliver Street in Pismo Beach AND they sell the mix as well as frozen trays of their cinnamon rolls so you can take them home and then your house can have the best cinnamon rolls in Santa Barbara! To make it worth your while to drive that far, hit the outlet mall while you are there and go up to See Canyon for some great apples at Gopher Glen. Sorry to sound like an area chamber of commerce, but when I worked in Santa Barbara, it seemed like few people knew what was waiting for them north of Gaviota.

Our Daily Bread has schnecken--snail rolls--which are kind of gooey and very very rich, if that's what you're looking for. Richer than most cinnamon rolls. They don't always have them, call to ask.

Buy the ones at Trader Joes $3.99 for a thing of five, put them in your oven at home for 10 minutes and bang, best Cinnamon Roll in town. You're welcome.

Farmer Boy on State St has the reputation for the best in town. I sorta like Spudnuts on Carrillo & De La Vina area, cinnamon rolls . I just had one at Pierre LaFonds and it was crappy.....

I liked Frimples too. It was called the Blue Onion drive in at one point when my older sisters & brother were cruising state.

TRUE STORY: I know a guy who is a bank robber who fled to Europe with the loot. He stayed away several years with no contact, and the Feds leaned on his "girlfriend left behind" rather persistently, figuring eventually she'd divulge his whereabouts. Then one day he came back to town with a truck, intent on getting a motorcycle he'd had in storage, and HE COULD NOT RESIST A FRIMPLE. He just had to have one. Nostalgia was his undoing. He stopped in there and whatta ya know, his ex-girlfriend was working there as a waitress and saw him in the booth. She dropped a dime and the Feds came and picked him up and he did several years in the slammer.

A new old style American bakery is opening in November on 604 Santa Barbara St. Across from the saturday Santa Barbara farmers market. It is called Recipes Cinnamon Rolls and gift baskets. Cinnamon rolls are a speciality, made the old way with organic and all natural ingredients. Also, Australian style coffees ...flat whites, tall blacks, babychinos. Watch for it!!!

Farmer Boy ! Sometimes I ask for one from the middle & without the sugary stuff. The mini-cinammon rolls are not mini; they are huge. I'm on my way there right now!
