Race Across the Sky

Just finished the famed Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race in Colorado on Saturday. The race starts at 10,000 ft and climbs as high as 12,600 with a total of 14,000 ft of elevation gain over the 100 miles. Thus, it is known as the "Race Across the Sky."
The town and surrounding mountains are beautiful. Leadville is able to maintain a very rustic and down to earth feel unlike some of the more ritzy surrounding towns (Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge). Although Lance did not show up this year, I must give him a shout out...all my training on Gibraltar (Santa Barbara's
Alpe d'huez where Lance trained) really paid off. Also big thanks to Open Air Cycles on State Street for dialing in my ride, the Niner Air 9, at the last minute. I had zero mechanical issues for all 10 hours and 6 minutes of my ride. I came away with the much coveted silver belt buckle!
More photos to come once I get off the road and back to SB.
Can't wait to get back on my bike once I'm home.
