Lassen Volcanic National Park

More photos from the road trip…. here are a few at Lassen Volcanic National Park. We hiked the Bumpass Hell trail (about 4 miles RT) which has the most hydrothermal features in the park. Lots of sulpher gases, boiling mud pots, hissing vents and a cold boiling lake!…plus lots of snow still on the ground to really give it all a beautiful effect. I've heard that Lassen NP is the least visited National Park in California, which is good for us as the scenery is just spectacular and no crowds! Definitely worth a visit.

Wow, that is some beautiful scenery. It's a wonderland. Always nice to still see snow in the summer time.

We hiked to the top of Mt. Lassen and we're surprised that we could see Mt. Shasta off in the distance. It's a beautiful place.

The Bumpass Hell trail? Wonder who's the one that named that!

Olwhatsername: Bumpass Hell is named after an early settler who fell into one of the steaming hot pools in the mid 19th century - and lost his leg as a result. Glad to be reminded of how beautiful is Lassen NP!

Is that pronounced Bum Pass or Bump Ass ? Is it a bum place to pass ? Or if you're not careful this trail will bump off your ass ?
